  2. 2. We don’t need to look perfect! Just need to be more authentically human. Really?!?!? 5 People can always tell the difference between a real person and a Christian robot. •Devoid of empathy & warmth •Pre-programmed answers •Struggles to love •Too perfect •Too serious •Not human 6 “In a world that is increasingly individualistic, millennials crave authentic relationships. The information and digital age have made good sermons or good apologetic analysis available to anyone with a computer and WIFI connection. Yet the internet still struggles to provide authentic human connection… Caroline “Cal” Hsiao IVCF Campus Minister, Washington U. 7 “Evangelism in the digital age looks like incarnating with those you are trying to reach. It is highly relational and built on a strong foundation of trust. For Asian American college students we share with our student leaders that in order for someone to start exploring Jesus they must first ‘belong’ to a community. ‘Belonging’ must be offered before belief. Belief cannot be a requirement for belonging.’” 8 Evangelism In Everyday Life_WCCCC - December 21, 2018
  3. 3. Not so fast… 9 Growing numbers of Americans see Christians in an unfavorable light. Religious Right Has TOXIFIED “Evangelical” maybe even “Christian” 10 We think others see us as forgiven, faithful followers of Jesus. And we assume that they want to know how to be just like us! NOPE! 11 Today we are seen as SELF-RIGHTEOUS HARD-HEARTED RIGHT-WING INTOLERANT SCIENCE-DENYING HYPOCRITES 12 Evangelism In Everyday Life_WCCCC - December 21, 2018
