On the way, there will be a brief sightseeing tour, followed by welcome dinner Skadarlija, a bohemian district of Belgrade. Overnight at 3* hotel in Belgrade. Day 2 - Krusedol Monastery – Sremski Karlovci – Novi Sad We start our tour in the Northern Serbian province of Vojvodina, reaching Mt. Fruška Gora's famous monasteries set right amidst the boundaries of a National Park. Explore the 16th century Krušedol Monastery then continue to Sremski Karlovci – baroque, riverside town on the Danube, nestled between slopes of Mt. Fruška Gora and mighty Petrovaradin fortress. Here, there is some more sightseeing, followed by wine and honey tasting in local cellar. We spend the afternoon in Novi Sad, capital of Vojvodina province, where Austria-Hungarian Empire established its outpost some 300 years ago. We enjoy leisurely stroll through pedestrianised centre visiting main sights, before returning to Belgrade for an overnight. Day 3 – Zica and Studenica Monasteries A day spent immersed in Serbia's rich monasteries heritage staring with visit to an early 13th century Ziča Monastery – originally built by King Stefan, the very first King of Serbia and patron of the Serbian Church, later canonised as St. Sava. We than continue to Studenica Monastery, dating back to 12th century and dedicated to the Presentation of the Holy Virgin. Boasting its unique collection of meticulously preserved Byzantine-style fresco paintings, this monastery is justly listed among UNESCO World Heritage sites. Enjoy dinner provided by your local hosts followed by overnight at monastery's on-site accommodation. Day 5 – Podgorica – Lake Skadar After breakfast we travel to sun-drenched Podgorica, Montenegro's compact capital, before we cross once heavily guarded border into Albania. Shortly we will reach the ancient commercial metropolis of Shkoder, nestled between two rivers. This town truly represents Albania's ever changing past, from the legendary Iliric tribes that stood up against the Romans, right up to the predominantly Catholic and Orthodox North-Albanians rebelling against the Ottomans rule. Our tour returns to Montenegro along intact Lake Skadar's shoreline to the fishing village of Virpazar. Here, there is an optional boat trip on the lake, offering panoramic views of the Natural Reserve and numerous bird sanctuaries. The day ends in the authentic Mediterranean town of Budva with dinner and overnight at 3* hotel. Day 6 – Sveti Stefan – Budva Old Town We spend the day exploring Montenegro's magnificent seaside, its coastal towns and villages, starting at Sveti Stefan – original fishermen village that has skilfully been converted into an opulent 5* resort. We continue our relaxing journey along lush green riviera before reaching resort of Budva and the Old Town - renowned for its maze of cobbled medieval streets and lanes that are often used as backstage for summer festivals. A must visit is town's vibrant Mediterranean port, outdoor market and host of good fish restaurants. Evening meal and overnight. Continuing through the Pešter plateau, perfect spot for observing cattle peacefully grazing at the place where famed Sjenica feta-style cheese is produced. We than reach monastery of Mileševa, where interior frescoes were completed by most skilful artists of that time, including the most famous in Serbian culture - the "White Angel" depicted on Christ's grave. Upon entering Montenegro, we arrive to a traditional, rural household in Bijelo Polje town, where are welcomed by our local hosts and treated to traditional local specialities. Our overnight is in a 4* hotel in the mountain resort of Kolašin. Day 7 – Kotor – Dubrovnik Our journey commences along windy Boka Kotorska bay-side road, offering some amazing views of the Europe’s most southern fjord. Poets have referred to this unique shape of land as the “Adriatic Bride” because of its extraordinary beauty and district's main town of Kotor - listed among UNESCO World Heritage sites, thus often on cruise ships itinerary. After a short journey we enter into Croatia, EU's newest member state. We head for the city of Dubrovnik, the afternoon is spent in sightseeing “The Jewel of the Adriatic” and one of the most beautiful coastal cities in the world. Dinner and overnight at 3* hotel.
