We need to get motivated! When it comes to emerging technology on the web…
Laughing relaxes the body. A relaxed body is more receptive to new ideas. Laugh!

Give yourself credit .

Realize that you are better at some things than others. Focus on your strengths – not your weaknesses. Give yourself credit when you reach a goal and praise yourself when you have done well.

Motivate yourself .

If you don't know why you want to learn, then distractions will be far more enticing. Why do you want to learn something new? What do you want to achieve through learning?
Set a goal . Here’s a hint: Set your goal on the skills or knowledge you want to acquire. A goal is something you want.
Think positive . There's no point in setting learning goals for yourself if you don't have faith in your ability to learn.
Organize. When you organize your time and tasks it is easier to schedule time for learning. Want to see some free web based tools for organizing? Click Here!
You can have reminders emailed to you and you can access your online calendar from any computer!
You may be surprised about what you already know about a topic. Figure out what you don't know, and then get ready to learn.
Remember! Every skill is learned . If one person can learn something, so can you.

An effective way to remember what you learn is to create a blog. Blog about the 23 Things you learned.

Doing so helps you to realize what you know and more importantly what you don't.

You don't even have to spend money if you grab a freebie account with Typepad , Wordpress , or Blogger .

Get moving! Write about it .

My 23 Things Contract for Learning.

I will develop a routine by setting aside time to work [each day]. I will try to find at least [two] hours where I can dedicate myself to the iHCPL program at the same time each [day].

I will work on one lesson at a time. This will prevent my missing important information or forgetting to complete an assignment.

I will not rush myself. I will learn the information and then move on to the next exercise.

I will find a quiet place to study. This will help me concentrate and forget about everything else in my life for awhile.

I will work with my supervisor to determine the best times for me to complete the [23 Things] exercises.

If I need to finish something that is work related, I will finish that first. I will not rush my learning experience. If I miss a day of study time, I will continue on my schedule and finish when I am ready.

Balancing my job and the 23 Things may take time. I will have to see which time of day I am able study without distraction. My job needs will have to come first, but since I will be working at my own pace, I should not feel discouraged if I miss a day or two of exercises.

I will consult a coworker if I am having difficulties. We can share and learn from each other.

I will have fun!

Signature and Date
