How To Write An Essay

  2. 2. Choose A Topic <ul><li>Some times the topic is given to you, other times, it’s up to you to decide what to write. </li></ul><ul><li>Either way, try to seem passionate and interested . If you’re not excited, readers won’t be interested. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Brainstorm <ul><li>This is the most important part. </li></ul><ul><li>One paragraph needs 3-6 ideas. </li></ul><ul><li>Five paragraphs needs 15-20 ideas. </li></ul><ul><li>NO THOUGHTS = NOTHING TO SAY </li></ul>
  4. 4. Write <ul><li>Writing is actually the shortest part. </li></ul><ul><li>Writing is quick if you’ve generated ideas. </li></ul><ul><li>Writing is the fastest part of the process. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Revise <ul><li>Revise means READ what you wrote and THINK about it as you go. </li></ul><ul><li>-Did I leave out words? </li></ul><ul><li>-Can I add words and give more detail? </li></ul><ul><li>- Should I change the order or cut some parts? </li></ul><ul><li>-Do I make sense? </li></ul><ul><li>-Is there anything else I can write that would </li></ul><ul><li> IMPROVE MY PAPER? </li></ul>
  6. 6. Edit <ul><li>This is quick, like writing. It’s also best done by a friend. </li></ul><ul><li>-Check spelling </li></ul><ul><li>-Check punctuation </li></ul><ul><li>-Make sure paragraphs are indented </li></ul>
  7. 7. Feel Good <ul><li>If you write something good, be proud of it! </li></ul><ul><li>If you write something bad, you need to keep practicing. </li></ul>
