1. 1. How To Save Energy By Natalie And Joanne
 2. 2. How Your Home Loses Heat

YOUR HOME LOSES HEAT THROUGH :

THE ROOF (25%)

WINDOWS (10%)

DRAUGHTS (15%)

FLOORS (15%)

EXTERNAL WALLS (35%)

YOU CAN SAVE HEAT BY :

DOUBLE GLAZING

DRAUGHTS EXCLUDERS

CARPETS

FIBRE GLASS

 3. 3. EXTERNAL WALLS

You can lose heat through the walls if you have an old house which does not have cavity insulation.

Cavity insulation is put in between the 2 layers of bricks and can reduce heat loss by 80%.

 4. 4. DOUBLE GLAZING

Windows in older housing consist of a single pane of glass. Windows in a new house consist of two panes of glass. This type is called DOUBLE GLAZING.

In between the two panes of glass there is air that has been trapped to stop heat getting through.

 5. 5. FLOORS

You can lose heat through the floors. 15% of heat is lost through the floors. To stop heat loss you can use carpet material as this acts as an insulator.

 6. 6. LOFT INSULATION

Heat can be lost through the roof by conduction. To stop this you have to put insulation directly above the ceiling. This is the cheapest form of insulation and energy loss can be reduced by 85%.

 7. 7. DRAUGHTS

You can get draughts through the windows, under the doors, through the roof, and through the floors. You can stop draughts by using a draught excluder. This is an insulating material which is used to cover gaps to reduce the movement of air.

 8. 8. IF YOU…..

If you follow all these instructions then your bills will be lower than ever.
