  11. 12. <ul><li>The Greek roots geo, meaning earth, and thermal, meaning heat is the meaning of geothermal. </li></ul><ul><li>The heat that is used for geothermal energy can be stored deep within the Earth, all the way down to the Earth’s core 4,000 miles down. </li></ul><ul><li>The Earth’s geothermal energy is used to turn an electric turbine to generate electricity. </li></ul>
