AFGHANISTAN POLITICS <ul><li>Politics in Afghanistan has historically consisted of power struggles, bloody coups and unstable transfers of power. </li></ul><ul><li>With the exception of a military junta, the nation has been governed by nearly every system of government over the past centuries, including a monarchy, republic, and theocracy. </li></ul>
  4. 4. AFGHANISTAN LANGUAGES <ul><li>The two official languages of Afghanistan are Pashto (since 1936) and Dari Persian (since 1964) </li></ul><ul><li>Persian has always been the prestige language and as the main means of inter-ethnic communication. </li></ul>

AFGHANISTAN GEOGRAPHY <ul><li>A landlocked and mountainous country, with plains in the north and southwest. </li></ul><ul><li>Kabul, is the capital and largest city of Afghanistan, located in the Kabul Province.  </li></ul><ul><li>Afghanistan has two seasons an extremely hot summer and a very cold winter. </li></ul>
  6. 6. AFGHANISTAN CULTURE <ul><li>The Minaret of Jam, in the Hari River valley, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. </li></ul><ul><li>A cloak reputedly worn by Muhammad is stored inside the famous Mosque of the Cloak of the Prophet Mohammed in Kandahar City. </li></ul>
