The Federal Department of Labor (DOL) and the IRS are responsible for enforcing ERISA requirements for all group health plans and the new PPACA requirements for all employers. Employers need to know what all of this means to them. This is where we enter. An organized employer with meticulous records, all of the up to date compliance materials, will be in much better shape if faced with a DOL audit than an employer who isn't prepared. All employers must begin their benefits review with the creation of a DOL Audit Compliance Manual.
