After years of tension between the Great Powers of Europe, specifically the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente, there was one evenT that triggered the war. The aim of this essay is to discuss the reasons why WW1 started in 1914 instead of in 1905. In order to do so, the conditions in 1905 and the events that increased tensions will be first analyseD, followed by the conditions in 1914, particularly the murder in Sarajevo. A World War does not start because of just one thing, but there are causes that led to war that may be considered more important than others. Europe was in a moment, a fragile moment, with lots of enmities between countries. The aim of this essay is to determine if the murder in Sarajevo was the main cause of the World War by developing arguments in favour and against this statement.
  6. 6. Question: Why can it be said that the crises of 1905-1913 made war inevitable? There were many reasons why the crises of 1905-1913 made World War 1 inevitable. The First World War started in the Balkans in late July 1914 and ended in November 1918, leaving 17 millions dead and 20 millions wounded. Question: To what extent was Austria-Hungary more responsible than Germany for the outbreak of WW1? We can say that the countries who were more responsible for starting WW1 were Germany and Austria-Hungary. There are some reasons why this is believed. The aim of this essay is to analyse the causes and define who was more responsible for it. Question: To what extent was the rivalry between Germany and France the main cause of WW1? There were other reasons apart from the rivalry between Germany and France that led to WW1. The aim of this essay is to explain what were the other causes that led to WW1, but also I will explain why the rivalry between these two countries was important to WW1.
