  6. 6. Help Desk Migration Service 6 Make sure you have admin privileges on both accounts. Create agent accounts in the target Help Scout. Note that they must have access to the target mailbox. Create necessary custom fields in target Help Scout. Make sure they are the same type as in source Help Scout. That way you will be able to match them up. If you’re going to migrate Docs, setup a site in the target Help Scout account.

  8. 8. Help Desk Migration Service Help Scout does not allow using the same email within its system. Even for two completely different accounts. To be able to use the same email for agent accounts in the target Help Scout, there’s one simple workaround. 8
  9. 9. Help Desk Migration Service First Temporarily change Agent emails in the source Help Scout system (the one you want to migrate FROM). Old email: admin@exampledomain.com => New email: admin+1@exampledomain.com What to do Then Create Agents with correct emails in the target Help Scout system (the system you want to migrate TO). That way, you will be able to continue the migration and our Migration Wizard will be able to match tickets and agents correctly. 9

  11. 11. Help Desk Migration Service Connect your source Help Scout account First, you need to connect the Help Scout for which you want to export data. To do this, you need to provide the following: › Mailbox ID › Docs API* › Docs site ID* Input the values into Migration Wizard and click Continue. 11 *Provide Docs credentials of you’re migrating knowledge base. If not, leave the fields empty.
  12. 12. Help Desk Migration Service Connect your target Help Scout account Next you need to connect the Help Scout account to import data to. You will need all the same credentials. However, there’s a little twist. Read this instruction to learn how to connect the target account. 12
  13. 13. Help Desk Migration Service Choose the information you need to migrate Check the boxes to select the data you want to export. Click Map Fields to match up ticket fields. Once you’re done matching, click Save mapping to save your settings. Click Continue to start the trial migration. 13

This will import 20 tickets to Help Scout for you to check the quality of the export and see if there are any issues with the data. You can restart the Demo Migration as many times as you need. 14
