Ws 420 christianity

 1. 1. Women and Christianity
Arose out of Judaism around the first century C.E. and is based on Jesus of Nazareth.
2. 2. Christianity
There are three main forms:
Catholic
Protestant
Orthodox
The Catholic and Orthodox forms are the most conservative towards women’s rights and participation, but there are many forms of Cathocolism and Orthodox Christianity.
There are many forms of Protestant Christianity that are far more liberal about the role of women than other forms.
3. 3. Christianity
The Bible uses masculine God-language where men are mostly represented in the stories that make up the bible.
There are many gender-segregated religious practices that are mostly seen in leadership.
The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints (Mormons), conservative branches of the Anglican Church, the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church, and the Southern Baptists still do not allow the ordination of women.
4. 4. Christianity
Christian Feminists work to reexamine Christian texts and history in order to support the involvement of women in Christianity since its birth.
There are passages in the bible that support the inclusion and importance of women in the early days of Christianity.
Christian Feminist Theologians also work to reinterpret biblical literature to redefine Mary the mother of Jesus as well as the few other female figures of Christianity.
