  2. 2. INTRODUCTION <ul><li>The experimental watershed is located on the Pentali Mountain in Greece </li></ul><ul><li>Study objective is to find the initial abstraction ratio (la/S) </li></ul>
  3. 3. MATERIAL <ul><li>The total area of the watershed is 15,18 km 2 </li></ul><ul><li>The mean, minimum and maximum altitudes were 430, 146 and 950 m </li></ul>
  4. 4. METHOD <ul><li>18 storm events were selected, analyzing measured rainfall </li></ul><ul><li>The analysis step was 30 minutes </li></ul>

NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICE – CURVE NUMBER (SCS-CN) <ul><li>SCS is based on the areas hydrologic soil group, land use, treatment and hydrologic condition </li></ul><ul><li>In order to study land covers properties a description research was carried out </li></ul><ul><li>CN is used in hydrology for predicting direct runoff from rainfall excess </li></ul>
  6. 6. RESULTS <ul><li>The average initial abstraction ratio of the watershed is equal to 0,014 </li></ul><ul><li>The human being intervention, in the form of urban development found in the southern part </li></ul>
  7. 7. CONCLUSION <ul><li>The determined values of the initial ratio are close to suggested index of 0,05 </li></ul><ul><li>Runoff from these areas reaches the outlet at the early stages of the storm and thus leads to low initial abstraction </li></ul>
