  4. 4. THE PLOT <ul><li>The prologue set it out at Windfield School, in 1866, where a tragedy of a young boy’s death takes place, and the court give a veredict of accidental death by drowning. The rest of the plot is divided in three parts from 1873 to 1890. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>The friendship between two close friends, since their chilhood, that become an homosexual love . </li></ul><ul><li>The two men are very diferent but complementaries; while Micky is wise, manipulative, cruel, meticulous, Edward, is weak, clumsy, hoggish, and they need themselves in a diferent way; Micky protects Edward in order to manipulate him, and Teddy is deeply in love with him. </li></ul><ul><li>At the end this false friendship turn into tyranee , death and disease. </li></ul>

The characters <ul><li>Follet uses many adjetives of personality in the descriptions but also the relationships betwen them. </li></ul><ul><li>I like the variety and richness of the vocabulary and the way of using that in order to make more pleasant and entertainting the whole book. </li></ul>

Relationships and charaters <ul><li>The assfixiant love of a mother too protective with his unique son, makes him feel weak, and fed up with her. </li></ul><ul><li>The protective, cruel, manipulative Augusta, had entered into a criminal conspiracy with Micky , and made her unpleasantly vulnerably to him </li></ul><ul><li>This assfixiant love ends up breaking their lives. </li></ul><ul><li>The true love between a man and a woman, broken by her jealous aunt Augugsta and other circumstances, make the lovers feel the sadness and despair in his lives. </li></ul><ul><li>Hugh Pilaster lives under the cruelty of his aunt Augusta, and he is the only one that has the courage to clash with her; moreover, she is so jealous of him because she knows that Hugh is much better in the bussines bank than her son Edward, and supouse to be an obstacule in his future. </li></ul><ul><li>Maisie, is the first love of Hugh, and the only one who has been always in love with him, and she suffers a lot because of the unhappynes of him. </li></ul>
