How I used Media 2.0 Technologies...and how they benefited me
Panasonic HD DV cameras This camera was very effecAve for me because of the simplicity behind changing its depth of field, and its light, portable size which made it easier to make the angles, camera movements (such as pans, zooms, etc) so much easier – ResulAng in decent footage.
Studio LighAng The studio lighAng was very useful to my media partner and I, whilst filming, because it helped to create different atmospheres. I also felt that the Text studio lights helped to make my markeAng package coherent in the theme of ‘light,’ because these lights really stand out.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 I used Premiere Pro to edit the music video. It was very useful to benefit from all of the ediAng opAons on the programme, such as adding effects, expanding and shortening Ame, spliTng, cuTng, etc. 4
Adobe OnLocaAon CS5OnLocaAon is a very good programme to use for transferring all of your footage onto the PC from the camcorder. It is also very helpfulfor naming and separaAng files once on the computer. 5
Canon 500D• The Canon 500D was what I• used to take my photographs • for both my digipak and• magazine advert. The• flash helped me to• illuminate objects • and the different • depth‐of‐fields and • camera lenses that • come with it helped me • make a decent variety of 6
Adobe Photoshop CS5 Photoshop enabled me to edit and manipulate images for my digipak and magazine advert. It also helped me creaAvely as I had so much possibility regarding opAons and tools. (Further references below). I also found it extremely beneficial to be able to have the digipak pallet as a 1st Photoshop layer, and to build the rest of the layers with pallet designs on to of it. 7
YouTube• YouTube was beneficial in many ways. It helped me to research music videos, directors commentaries and documentaries which are currently out there. I was also able to upload my own music video onto YouTube a^er my • media partner and I • made it. I found that• the research I did on• it in the early days • greatly influenced • my creaAvity. 8
Blogger • I used Blogger to report on what I was doing throughout the process of my markeAng package ‐ regarding my influences, inspiraAon, the producAon process of each media text and the theory that went behind it. However, I was able to be very creaAve on Blogger, due to embedding thing such as YouTube clips, and it was also possible to change the colour of the text, etc. 9
Facebook• Facebook is social networking site which tremendously helped me with audience research and planning events. Before we started filming our music video, we made a Facebook event so that people knew exactly• what was going on, • what Ame our filming• was, etc. Facebook was• extremely good for • interacAng with • audiences. 10
Gmail My media partner and I used Gmail to contact our arAst for permission to use the song. It was a very quick and efficient way to get in contact with him, and we got a very quick reply which helped to speed along the process. I find new technologies such as this very useful, especially regarding the area of Media. 11
If I had an iPhone..• I would say that the only• thing my media partner and• I would have benefited from• using new technologies, • would have been the iPhone• 4 or 3G, because of its • mulAtasking and note making • availability which would have been• useful onset. The compact camera• would have been also useful for • locaAon scouAng, and the benefit • of email and Facebook on the go would have saved a lot of Ame. 12
