The Environmental Protection Agency’s Significant New Alternatives Policy reviews substitutes within a comparative risk framework for several industrial sectors, including ours, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. The list of substitutes evolves with EPA’s understanding of environmental and health impacts of, in our case, refrigerants. SNAP Rules 20 and 21 that were recently brought to bear on our industry, were ultimately remanded back to the EPA by the courts.
