Primary School A <ul><li>Brief Introduction of School </li></ul><ul><li>Founded in 1984 </li></ul><ul><li>Dec 2007, local government built a two-storey classroom building in a new location </li></ul><ul><li>New school campus covers 6,700 m 2 and has 14 classrooms </li></ul><ul><li>School serve the community of 5300 from neighbouring 10 villages </li></ul><ul><li>Student population of 230 will increase to 500 (by end 2008) </li></ul>

Primary School A <ul><li>The Challenges </li></ul><ul><li>The construction of the school is yet to be completed due to lack of funds </li></ul><ul><li>Need to shift to the new location by April 2008 as the previous school building was considered structurally unstable and unfit for occupation </li></ul><ul><li>Urgently need to expedite the completion of perimeter wall, guard house, tar road, septic tank, toilet facilities and a gate </li></ul>

  6. 6. Primary School A The vacant land is under construction. The school will have perimeter wall, guard house, hygienic external toilet facilities and a proper gate on the rest of the land.
  7. 7. Primary School A The school is remote and students and staff needs to travel a long distance on the road leading to the school. Without proper drainage and gravel road, the path becomes muddy and slippery on bad weather conditions.

  9. 9. <ul><li>The challenges </li></ul><ul><li>This school is located in the remote countryside. </li></ul><ul><li>95% of teachers live in the city and cycle 1 hour to go to school. Most of students need to cycle 1-1.5 hours every day. </li></ul><ul><li>Most of teachers and students bring home-cooked food to school or eat at the food stalls near the school. Without proper regulation of hygiene, students and teachers who consume contaminated food are frequently affected by bouts of food poisoning . </li></ul><ul><li>To alleviate the problem, the school has proposed to the local town government for financial support to build a dining room and kitchen . The new facility will serve as a canteen to provide meals for staff and students. They have made three attempts but without avail. Left on their own, the school could not afford the new facility. The available fund is only sufficient to cover school operating costs. </li></ul>Primary School B

  13. 13. <ul><li>Brief Introduction of School </li></ul><ul><li>Founded in 1983 </li></ul><ul><li>School campus covers 636 m 2 </li></ul><ul><li>Student population of 327 </li></ul><ul><li>Serve community from 7 villages in the vicinity </li></ul><ul><li>In 2006, the local government built a two-storey building to replace the old and worn classrooms. Another local villager donated some funds to build two basketball courts and two concrete roads inside the campus. </li></ul>Primary School C
  14. 14. <ul><li>Challenges </li></ul><ul><li>The school needs to rebuild and strengthen the perimeter wall which is on the verge of collapse. </li></ul><ul><li>The outdoor toilet also needs some upgrading to increase the level of hygiene. </li></ul><ul><li>To maintain security, the school would like to set up a guard house and upgrade the school gate . </li></ul>Primary School C
