  2. Imagine if every day you… took the stairs
  3. Thanked someone…
  4. Flossed your teeth…
  5. Got 7 hours sleep…
  6. Did your hardest work before 10:30am…
  7. Only checked email every hour…
  8. Stretched between phone calls…
  9. Drank 8 glasses of water
  10. and read for 30 minutes before bed.
  11. Would that be a MIRACLE?
  12. No, it’s not a miracle… it’s Hero Habits
  13. A Hero Habit makes your day better, your life richer, and (best of all), leads to more good habits.
  14. Hero Habits make YOU a HERO
  15. Here’s why Hero Habits matter
  16. You use habits to get through the day*, so you might as well create good ones. 40% of what you do every day is done out of habit (Duke University) *
  17. Habits free up brain power so you can be more creative, intuitive (even happier.)
  18. You build a Hero Habit with these four questions:
  19. (1) what’s the problem? “I leave things to the last minute. And it gets me in trouble.” (write that down)
  20. (2) Why do I do it? “I do it because I think somehow I’ll avoid the hard work.”
  21. (3) What will I do instead? 1) break big projects into 20 minutes chunks, 2) block time on my calendar, 3) use my 20 minute blocks to only work on one project (like I am right now)
  22. (4) What’s the reward? “I’ll feel relief to get the work done. Plus, I get to cross it off my list.” Great! Now follow your plan.
  23. Sounds like advice your Mom would give? Well it works (so get over yourself)!
  24. WARNING: Don’t overthink this. Sure we have global warming, an oil crisis, and movie stars splitting up. Meanwhile, you’ve got a life to live. So, pull up your shorts, create Hero Habits and make life awesome.
  25. Wait! Before we go on.

  28. Stephen King always writes 10 pages a day (even on holidays) “If you cannot find the time for that, you can't expect to become a good writer.”
  29. Jack Dorsey* *(co-founder Twitter and Square) has a specific focus for each day of the week (Monday is management, Tuesday is products, Wednesday is marketing, etc.)
  30. Elon Musk* *Tesla Motors, SolarCity, SpaceX gets a lot of his big ideas during long showers or late at night pacing around the house.
  31. “After a few days you'll have a chain. Your only job is to not break the chain.” Jerry Seinfeld puts a big X on his calendar every day he writes new material.
