• A retail management system that only examines company results retrospectively is of little use for retailers – especially on the fast moving LifeStyle Retail sector. This is why we have designed FuturERS™ so that it supports you in your decision making processes right from the start. Planning mechanisms and anticipatory decision support tools are moved to the foreground. In this way, effective measures can already be implemented before critical retail management situations arise: Thinking ahead - moving forwards!
• Continue … Who we are ? The Futura Retail Solution AG
• Working and learning in a friendly atmosphere. Seminar Centre in Stelle / Hamburg Our training course room is integrated into the headquarters of Futura Retail Solution AG in Stelle.

We will be pleased to advise you of the names of contacts at our reference customers - a reference visit can be arranged on request. Please coordinate these activities through our offices. Thank you very much.
• Continue … FuturERS™ - Mehods and Strategies
• FuturERS™ is modular in design and totally meets your requirements. Depending on the task to be fulfilled and your needs, you can use the entire system or just parts of it. The full functionality is available to you right from the start. In this way we accomplish the smooth transition to new successful technologies without overwhelming your staff. FuturERS™ provides you with a network spanning the whole company which constantly updates the profit data and prepares it automatically so that it can be used as a basis for targeted decision-making.
• The FuturERS™ system is suitable for various distribution channels. Branch systems and franchise systems are depicted by FuturERS™ as separate entities. Concession, Shop in Store and Shop in Shop can be completely integrated via EDI. For FuturERS™ users, the quick response concept already forms the basis of any further expansion of their business.
• LifeStyle Retail is characterised by a high variety of products – FuturERS™ is characterised by a wide variety of fields of applications. FuturERS™ is a fully integrated specialist solution for LifeStyle Retail and a successful retail management system. Benefits for retailers FuturERS™ enables you to control your future success: by increasing the rate of stock turnover, reducing the volume of price reductions, shortening order cycles and particularly by supplying reliable trend information.
• Unlike other lines of business, LifeStyle Retail cannot resort to long-term empirical data covering individual items, but plans and controls seasonal items and fast moving consumer goods. Therefore, historical data relating to similar products such as comparable qualities, item sizes, price ranges and branch-specific sales figures must be used. FuturERS™ has developed an item profiling technique that has been tried and tested for many years. This method also considers product characteristics, the branch and allocation profile as well as size weightings in individual branches. Taking actual demand as a basis, FuturERS™ guides the product to the first allocation, post allocation and rest allocation, replenishment and IBT. Requirements are calculated stochastically and adjusted on the basis of the daily changing sales quotas. This helps you to considerably reduce the volume of price reductions and to increase the rate of stock turnover.
• Maintenance of reference data, consisting of product reference data (items) and address reference data (supplier, personnel, branch), plays a decisive role as this data forms the basis for further analysis at a later stage and must therefore be treated, maintained and checked with great care. Reference data can be entered and maintained manually, using import/export functions or using integrated data checking functions.
• Allocation keys based on the item profiling technique can e.g. be combined with branch sizes and branch characteristics in order to achieve an efficient allocation of products (first allocation, replenishment, inter-branch transfer).
• FuturERS™ provides you with proven, tried and tested methodology that enables you to allocate items to the points of sale based on actual demand - without the need of long-term empirical data. Especially for the first allocation stage an item profiling technique has been developed which takes the data of similar items (comparable quality, item sizes or price range) and branch-specific sales figures into account.
• Demand quantities are calculated for each branch and item variant - in a fully automated process if required. These demand quantities determined by stochastic calculation are subsequently used in the following functional areas of FuturERS™: automated reordering/repeat ordering from the supplier, replenishment within the company from a central or regional stock, recall and inter-branch transfer.
• Continue … FuturERS™ - Functions overview
• FuturERS™ serves all areas of a company through which an item passes. This starts with budget and limit planning, moves on to the qualified order, goods-in with invoice checking, and finishes with demand-oriented, company-wide goods allocation with subsequent sales at the point of sale. Based on the current sales figures and trend analyses, determined by DataMining processes in the DataWarehouse, FuturERS™ identifies best and worst sellers at an early stage and initiates suitable measures, such as replenishment, recall, inter-branch transfer, branch-specific price changes etc.
• Continue … FuturERS™ - Functions overview: Purchasing
• The Fashion Order allows fast order registration with direct limit control - including automatic creation of items in the item reference data. Naturally this also works if you are travelling, on your notebook! Purchase Order Management provides you with checklists for monitoring delivery dates, part deliveries, sample deliveries and import dates etc. On the basis of sales figures, current stock levels and trend information, recommended reordering figures are generated, which are placed as purchase orders with your supplier either automatically or after you have released them.
• FuturERS™ offers you a proven professional budget / limit system for purchase planning and monitoring based on your actual demand. The plan data are derived from your historical values, set as defaults, and you can then adjust them according to your needs. FuturERS™ allows you to export the plan data in order to process them using Microsoft Excel or other planning tools and to re-import the data if required. The process of controlling actual data shows the current variances between budget plan and actual data in the sales period. This process also gives you indications - accurate to day and size and colour - about branch-specific product shortages and surpluses. During the season, FuturERS™ provides you with constantly updated budget information, thus enabling you to respond promptly and specifically to unplanned situations.
• You can define the classification levels for the budget and limit system at your complete discretion: as main budget and as reference element in up to 2 additional secondary budgets. In the resulting planning and control structure you have manual and automated adjustment calculations at your disposal: top-down, bottom-up and time adjustment.
• The Total level view in the budget and limit system arranges reference, plan and actual figures clearly in a table. You can freely select and sort the columns. The following data can be displayed: number of pieces, cost price, sales price (gross or net), margin, average cost and sales prices and gross yield.
• Time Planning allows you to enter the plan data for each classification level. The available adjustment methods (top-down, bottom-up or time adjustment) facilitate data entry and ensure that a balanced budget is passed on for limit control. Plan data can also be imported if this data is available in external systems.
• Based on the company budget, data selection and data provision with automatic budget transfer can be carried out for every purchaser, every branch and even for the franchise partner. The individual budgets can then be modified locally and consolidated again. Restructuring the budget - based on a company budget - enables you to carry out limit control from various perspectives: for the buyer e.g. according to product groups and for the branch management according to branches.
• Limit planning and control is possible for all given planning/control levels and the time level in the budget. If the budget structure includes e.g. product group and buyer, every Fashion Order can be monitored directly at these levels with respect to open-to-buy at time level, depending on the delivery date.
• The Fashion Order allows fast order registration with direct limit control - including automatic creation of items in the item reference data. Naturally this also works if you are travelling, on your notebook/laptop. The Fashion Order registers: the delivery period for direct comparison with the time schedule in the budget, the items, indicating PGR, SGR, etc. for assigning the classification level in the budget and number of pieces, PP, SP for the relevant budget display. The transfer of the Fashion Order to the head office includes the reference and the immediate comparison with the company budget with limit control.
• You, the user, have various data fields available in each column. Use the right mouse button and select an option from the list displayed. It is possible to sort each column according to the column contents (in ascending or descending order).
• The grid view with copy function makes entering order quantities in the Fashion Order fast and easy. A direct link to the budget allows you to use the allocation percentages for automatic allocation of the order quantity to units, variants or branches.
• Purchase Order Management provides you with checklists for monitoring delivery dates, part deliveries, sample deliveries and import dates etc. You can individually combine and present the key figures and make them available to your staff as ToDo lists. Here you can freely select the number of columns, the column headlines and contents.
• On the basis of sales figures, current stock levels and trend information, recommended reordering figures are generated which are placed as purchase orders with your supplier either automatically or after you have released them.
• Continue … FuturERS™ - Functions overview: Product Management
• A simple, direct and reliable goods-in registration with immediate comparison with the purchase order is the best start for an item in your company. For labelling your goods we generate individual label layouts for you.
• The "3-step method" increases the reliability when entering and checking invoices and comparing them to the goods received before the data is transferred to your Financial Controlling department.
Stocks from the regional or central stockroom are automatically allocated for replenishment purposes. Based on an allocation, route-specific pick lists, delivery notes and possibly labels and loading lists are generated.
• FuturERS™ helps you to identify best and worst sellers at an early stage. Recall and inter-branch transfer instructions can then be an effective tool to respond quickly to the situation.
• Inter-branch transfers of goods can be initiated locally or by the head office. To increase the reliability of these inter-branch transfers you can use a "stock in transit", i.e. irrespective of the physical, direct transfer of goods, the goods will not be booked to another branch in the system before a confirmation has come in. If no confirmation is received, the goods remain in the stock in transit of the consignor branch.
• To carry out company-wide item price changes, two functions are available: the "Set price change" and the "Area price change". This type of price changes in the item reference data must be maintained in the head office; they are automatically transferred to the branches where they take effect on the date defined. From a statistical point of view, these price changes can be evaluated through the reduced/increased stock value.
• To carry out branch-specific item price changes two functions are available: the "Special prices" and the "Linked items". This type of branch-specific price changes/price activities can either be maintained locally in the branches or in the head office for the relevant branch with subsequent automatic data transfer. This allows you to implement special price activities such as "3 for 2", "Happy Hour" or "Multi Buy". Statistically, evaluations are possible for selected POS stations and branches so that they can be distinguished from the price changes in the item reference data carried out in the head office.
• Continue … FuturERS™ - Functions overview: Sale
• FuturERS™ supplies your POS system with all the information your sales staff needs for effective customer service. In addition to most up-to-date prices, cashier activities and branch-specific stock level information, supply management, customer administration and branch administration tasks are available at the POS stations.
• The registration of a sales transaction consists of entering the cashier number, possibly the recipient (customer, personnel, branch in case of IBT, supplier in case of supplier return), goods registration (reference number, EAN code or product group) with number of pieces and price as well as registration of the payment types (cash, credit card, etc.). Two printers can be set up on which the receipt can be printed alternatively. Additional information such as purchasing information, item information, branch-specific stock levels, item picture, parallel sales transactions as well as direct price changes/discounts can be called up directly.
• Alternatively, a touch POS interface with the same functionality is available.
• The stock display shows your sales staff the branch-specific stock levels, sales figures, target and minimum stock levels, open purchase quantities etc. in a clearly arranged table. The user can choose any combination of columns and lines.
• You can individually combine items for sales transactions which are then available at the POS at specific times.
• Customer order processing can be used throughout the company. It enables you to register offers, customer orders, delivery notes, invoices and summary invoices for your customers. Due to the integrated eCommerce interface, data from an internet shop can also be processed. Commissioning allows you to order the goods for the customer and then arrange for pickup at a customer order stockroom or direct delivery to the customer. Different customer price breaks and special evaluations are only a part of the wholesale functionality that FuturERS™ offers you.
• The POS functions are integrated into order processing, so that you can compile branch-specific delivery note data in the order processing module at head office for use in invoicing (summary invoice).
• Due to the integrated eCommerce interface, data from an internet shop can also be processed. By means of a data export, FuturERS™ provides item and stock level data. Through the host interface new customers can be imported into the address reference data and orders can be set up in Order Processing for further processing.
• Continue … FuturERS™ - Functions overview: Controlling
• Product trend analyses, branch trends, market basket analyses, STPS (short term profit statement), comparative analyses, extrapolations and a large number of customised evaluations are possible. The interface to the Crystal Reports list generator allows you to freely combine data for use in other output formats.
• The FuturPilot™ is a technology used to supply company wide profit data in a condensed and graphical way: you can drill down via mouse click from the company overview to detailed information about branches and items.
• FuturERS™ supplies up to date top-down analyses so that trend changes can be reliably detected. This enables you to respond quickly. The STPS display allows you to sort according to column contents (in ascending or descending order) and to retrieve data during a nightly booking run. You can choose whether you wish to print the evaluations, view them on screen, send them out by E-mail in a PDF format or make them available on the Internet.
• The product statistics with trend analyses provides various selection criteria and creates a detailed, best seller or worst seller lists. The "Select & Execute" function enables you to filter your DataWarehouse data in accordance with your selections so that the filtered out items can be made available to other FuturERS™ functions such as Price Change, Inter-Branch Transfer and Promotion where they can directly be used for special actions. By exporting files in a CSV or PDF format you can make the data available to other external tools.
• The "Select & Execute" function enables you to filter your DataWarehouse data in accordance with your selections so that the filtered out items can be made available to other FuturERS™ functions such as Price Change, Inter-Branch Transfer and Promotion where they can directly be used for special actions. The interface to the Crystal Reports list generator and to Microsoft Excel allows you to freely combine data for use in other output formats.
• Using modern data entry units you can record the stock available in the branches quickly and reliably any time. The direct comparison of target and actual figures enables you to detect and correct differences promptly and locally.
• Continue … Parameter Setting/Technics
• The Navigator supports the FuturERS™ users thanks to easy handling and clearly arranged operating functions. Each user can choose his own language (currently: German, English, Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch) as FuturERS™ user interface language.
• Screen masks can be tailored to the specific requirements of a company. Flexible mask control with customized mask design can be created for each user profile. For each language you can store a translation of the "term in the standard FuturERS™ terminology" into the "designation used in your company". This translation is transferred within a head office/branch system and affects print and screen masks . Example: FuturERS™ -terminology designation used in your company Subgroup department Unit Size Variant Colour
• The implemented workflow elements afford the following benefits: Event-controlled and rule-based modification of data. Automatic allocation of documents to staff groups, based on rules. Automatic dispatching of e-mails controlled by defined data field contents. Rule-based calling of functions for further data processing (export, printing, etc.). Integration of user exists for further external processing. User guidance can be implemented in combination with the Task View display.
• Tasks make it possible to use customized selections for the FuturERS™ data sources. The user can select which values are to be displayed. "Workflow Rules" are rules for event-controlled activities on documents carried out if certain conditions are fulfilled (fully automatic process).
• System setup and maintenance involves installation, system configuration, parameter setting and integration of FuturERS™ into existing data environments. Reference data, parameters, booking logics, branch and POS profiles as well as default settings for the branch communication are defined and maintained at head office level. A well thought-out concept based on the newest technologies ensures a reliable overall solution.
• The complete integration of all EDI message types enables an effective, direct and reliable data exchange between retailers and industry. The advantages are obvious: no need to label the goods, cost-effective data exchange by means of modern communication and information technologies, reduction of the manual input work, lower error rates, and increased data quality.
• FuturERS™ is an EDI compatible retail system, providing complete integration of all EDI message types. FuturERS™ manages external sales floors (concession, Shop in Store, Shop in Shop) as virtual branches to ensure an optimum, target and demand-oriented supply management. The product flow for standard and fashion items is controlled using short-term information about assortment sales data collected at the point of sale. The integrated interface to typical ERP systems ensures absolute data transparency from the sales transaction at the point of sale on the sales floor, via the automatic replenishment of never-out-of-stock goods up to specific assortment and production planning.
• In ASP configurations, all decentralised users access a central server (host). This server holds the company’s entire stock of data. The connection to this host is established using modern communication systems such as Internet, VPN, DSL, etc. Only the screen contents are displayed and entries are made locally, but the application, e.g. the POS program, is executed in the head office. The communication processes running between the program being executed centrally and the display on the local stations are controlled by proven and tested products such as Microsoft Terminal Server Client or Citrix ICA Clients.
• As additional interfaces are available, FuturERS™ can be integrated into your company architecture. The retail management processes in large and successful companies are not that different from the processes in small and medium-sized enterprises. That is why a retail management system must provide comprehensive functionality for all sizes of enterprises.
• Futura Retail Solution AG maintains active partnerships with other companies which have already been valuable in many successful customer projects.
• FuturERS™ holds the independency of manufacturers. Standard PC- technology as well as typical peripherals are supported – totally to your liking and demands.
• Our company’s success is, however, not only based on having developed professional software. Thanks to the intensive contact to our customers, many personal discussions and our practice-oriented customer workshops we constantly receive suggestions that are incorporated into the further development of FuturERS™. This helps us to produce software functionality that keeps up with market changes. We will also fulfil our goal to be at the pulse of the market in future. Because this is the reason why FuturERS™ today is the leading product and is proving itself every day in more than 18,000 installations. Complex software requires competent consulting. At Futura you’ll find competent partners in all areas of the company, who will be more than happy to attend to your queries and needs. FuturERS™ is protected by copyright.
