1. Radio Trailer Research…
When researching into radio trailers I came across this website, which displays and explains
“How to do good radio advertising”…
- Know the product inside out.
- Have one big idea.
- Use your unlimited special effects budget.
- Don’t feel obligated to stick to a ridged campaign idea.
- Humour really works. Police Sirens don’t.
- Avoid ads that need excessive illegal jargon.
- Don’t repeat the call number.
Not all of these ideas relate to radio trailers within the film industry however a few apply.
I agree more with the first point of making sure you know everything about your subject and
what stands out. This is vital especially in making a radio trailer for a film, as audience is key, and
therefore the information within the trailer needs to be highly informative, well explained and
persuasive. All of this needs to be done within a short amount of time, and so therefore needs
to be carried out carefully and be well planned.
I like this quote “The listener does the hard work and creates the scene, you just have to
steer them in the right direction.” Therefore as the creators of the radio trailer, it needs to be
crafter in a way that allows the audience imagination to run free.
