June Steenkamp, Reeva Steenkamp's mother, told The
Times in a front page interview published on 18 March
2013: "Why? Why my little girl? Why did this happen?
Why did he do this?"
"Just like that she is gone," the newspaper quoted her as
saying in what it described as an emotional telephone
interview. "In the blink of an eye and a single breath, the
most beautiful person who ever lived is no longer here."
Mrs Steenkamp also revealed that in Reeva’s younger years, her
daughter had painted a picture of a man with a gun threatening a
"terrified" woman with angel wings and a ladder beside her
"going up to heaven".
"Reeva painted these pictures when she was 14... but we never
really realised what they were about," she said. "If you look at it
now it's clear as anything that this is a premonition."

The model will be cremated later today as Pistorius
appears in court for a bail hearing expected to reveal
more about what happened the night she was shot dead.
South African police are believed to be checking SMS
and text messages from the slain model's iPad and
mobile phone to try to establish a motive for her death.
Steenkamp was believed to be in a “close friendship”
with South African rugby star Francois Hougaard when
she was killed. The pair had reportedly dated in the past.

Oscar Pistorius charged with murder of Reeva Steenkamp
Denial: Pistorius denies that he murdered his girlfriend, and
his defence is expected to be that he thought she was an
Oscar Pistorius, the South African Paralympic sprinter who
has been charged with the premeditated murder of his
girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, attended a bail hearing on
Tuesday 19 February 2013 where he denied intentionally
killing the 29-year-old model in his home on Valentine’s Day.
In a prepared statement, Pistorius told prosecutors that he
mistook Steenkamp for a burglar, shooting her through the
door of his bathroom while she was locked inside.
