  • STORY#1: Mia had a great idea and started to talk to people. she got massive amounts of feedback on her google doc, people said they would be happy to join her and help out. but when push came to shove she sat there alone at 4 am in the morning doing a budget. abandoned. as she approached people they were still very positive and wanted to help. she gave them tasks and some did them - some not if she didn’t remind them, and others if they did without a drive of their own. she got furious. the problem was that it was her vision. she didn’t really let people in. she had the plan and goal inside her head. it wasn’t that people didn’t want to help or were lazy. it was that they felt that she either did it better, faster or often “the way she really wanted it to be”.

STORY#2: Amit was one of the most visionary entrepreneurs around in the field. He had built a web service from scratch, and was now selling it to the Fortune 500:s. He recently employed Kia, a star sales guy with absolute top achievement at his former two employers. But Kia ran into trouble. He was a relationship person. And his customers loved him. And wanted to buy the service, but never got to signing the agreement. More and more stakeholders got involved. Some even did integration themselves. And they loved talking to Amit how the service would evolve and change the world of computing. Amit had a great temper with Kia, since Amit met the customers as well. But Kia couldn’t take it, being so used to closing deals every month, heck week often!

STORY#3: Minh was one of those people who are full of great ideas and so much energy it hurts. When he started his company everyone knew that the world was about to change for good. Very quickly he had the user interface specification and the basic business plan, and by using his savings he hired a developer, Marty. As soon as Marty started coding, Minh got his hands dirty with what he was best at - marketing. He gathered friends and did amazing flash mob campaigns, filming it and getting it on YouTube. Marty asked if they could set up a recurring meeting, but Minh didn’t really have the time right now. He was opening up a community part of the webpage, even if there wasn’t even a line of code running, and got great interest. Of course his twitter followers and facebook group grew day by day. But. One day the money ran out. And Minh sat down with the coder. Surprised that there wasn’t even a beta in the works...
