3. Activity 1
Instructions:
1. Read the case study in groups.
2. Enlist the important points and discuss them
critically
3. Discussion and presentation should be in English
Language
4. The reading time for the case study is 10 min
5. After the discussion of 5 minutes anyone from each
group will present his/group’s critical understanding.
6. Each presenter is suppose to present for 3 minutes

5. What is Audience Involvement ?
Audience involvement means your audience is
actively comparing what you are sharing with
what they already know evaluating it raising
concerns and participating in a dialogue.

– Use any relevant experience you had .

David Scelba , CEO of SG & W integrated Marketing
communications, once had to give presentation before a group of
thoracic surgeons and he feared that this group could be among
the most intimidating , hard to involve audience ever. But Scelba
had a Plan…
He began by referencing the open heart surgery that had recently
been done on former president Bill Clinton. In Clinton’s surgery had
consider performing his operation with newer , “Close Chest”
technique but eventually they opted for the open heart approach.
Result:
– David Scelba won the trust of the surgeons .
– He got an opinion of strong profile
11. Involvement through Fun
• By using Audio visual aids
• By singing a song or telling a joke
• By giving material for positive
reinforcement.

• Evilee Thibeault, CEO Publisher world was once having a business
meeting with and company , after long meeting the buyer group
demanded for a presentation.
Thibeault challenge was to get immediate involvement of worn out
committee. As soon as the committee entered to the room the light
were turned off and music from boom box was blasting. Committee
member were given an enthusiastic welcome, leis were place
around their necks. When the issue of finance came they played a
money song.
Result:
– The audience were involved
– Audience were refreshed after a long meeting
– It build a relation with the audience
13. Involvement through Emotions
– Find out a common ground to involve audience
through emotion
– Show commonality in you
– Find out a point to match the situation
– Always find something you share in common
14. Involvement through Problem Solving
– Put your self in other’s shoe
– Read the mind of the audience
– Do not confuse the listener if he is facing any
problem
– Listen the audience patiently
– Give full information
– Give more information on the demand of listener

– Use relevant physical and psychological activities.
– Use different helping material (audio and visual
aids) to involve the audience
