    3. 3. Job Overview<br />The responsibilities and duties of your position include:<br />Assisting patrons at the Circulation desk:<br />1. Checking in, out and renewing library and reserve material.<br />2. Searching library and reserve material in the library catalog.<br />3. Retrieving material patron’s requested from other libraries.<br />4. Releasing print jobs and <br />monitoring security gate.<br />

Job Overview<br />Why your are so important to the library…<br />Student employees are a large percentage of the library staff. <br />At Hagerty library, 30-50 students are employed per term. <br />The library could not run properly without its students. <br />The library relies on you to staff the Circulation desk and assist other departments.<br />

Job Overview<br />Staying balanced:<br />Keeping a balance between your commitments is key: school, work, family, and social life.<br />If your schedule is causing problems with this balance, talk with your supervisor before it begins to affect your work.<br />School comes first while employed at the library. <br />

    12. 12. General Information<br />The Access Services website is your the place to go when seeking information about this department or the library in general.<br />
    13. 13. Procedures and Rules<br />When you come in to work:<br />Always clock in and check the schedule.<br />You will be assigned time at the Circulation desk and time to complete your shelving or stack duty.<br />When at the Circulation desk, please sit at your assigned terminal.<br />

Departmental Rules<br />There are some DO’s and DON’T while employed at Access Services<br />When at the desk, helping a patron always comes first.<br />You may study or browse the web while working.<br />You may print out assignments in moderation.<br />When shelving you may listen to a portable listening device.<br />
    15. 15. Departmental Rules<br />There are some DO’s and DON’T while employed at Access Services<br />Do not bring friends behind the Circulation desk. Current employees only.<br />Do not eat or drink while at the desk. (use the break area in the back of department)<br />Do not talk on your cell phone while at the desk. Turn off your ringer.<br />
    16. 16. Departmental Rules<br />Other things to keep in mind while employed at Access Services:<br />We offer a small study area that may be used while your off shift or to eat while on a break. This area is for employees only.<br />We have a small coatroom with a fridge and microwave. You can store your belongings or your lunch/dinner here for the day.<br />Always clean up after yourself. Wash any dishes or utensils you use. <br />

Departmental Rules<br />Attendance<br />Please show to work on time.<br />If you are going to be late or need to call off, please email or call a supervisor in advance.<br />You are not required to make up your hours, but if you miss a particular shift on a regular basis, you will get taken off the schedule.<br />

Departmental Rules<br />Staff Contacts<br />School work comes first, so don’t <br />hesitate to call off if you need to meet a deadline.<br />When calling off or late you should contact:<br />DAYTIME (7:30am-4pm): Email hagertycirculation@gmail.com or call 215-895-2774 (Shin)<br />EVENING and WEEKENDS (4pm-2am): Email hagertycirculation@gmail.com or call the Circulation desk at 215-895-2767 and ask for a supervisor.<br />If you need to change your schedule contact Shin.<br />
    19. 19. Federal Work-Study Grant<br />Important Information<br />- The pay rate is $7.25 per hour. <br /><ul><li>A pay raise of $0.50 if you continue to work at the library after each academic year.
    20. 20. There is 20 hour limit per week, although most students work between 8-12 hours on average. The more hours you work, the quicker you will use your WS grant funds. Example: A $1500 WS grant will allow you to work for two terms at 10-12 hours per week.
    21. 21. After your WS funds run out, you won’t be able to continue working until the start of the next academic year (July 1st). Financial Aid paperwork must be submitted on time in order get a new WS grant.</li></li></ul><li>Any Questions<br />Find your supervisor or continue to <br />the next training session<br />
