A lot of us when asked about W&J, we have negative mindset.Expensive, service. What I tried to do was take a look at the real things that I enjoy about W&J. Some are little things, some are big.
Start out with where I live. This lady is the essence of leading by example. Last year our house smelled like shit. We come in this year and she says “your house was the messiest on all of chestnut street. But it is my goal to be the best.” We are boys, we are messy. We see this lady on the damn staircase with a toothbrush. We are like “holy siht
Even though they are a bit slow, they will very rarely tell you no. We put a damn flagpole in the ground. That is nice
This is something that I didn’t appreciate until I visited my friend and realized that this isn’t the way at all places.
Connection, Conversation, and simplicity. Great computers with skype. Skype booth, and big tables where everyone can sit comfortably
You can snag one and just read it and give it back when you are done.
The place is crowded and outdated, but I realized that when we lift as a team, because we are closer together, we become more competitive. People a lot of time lift the same thing, and you end up tryingIt’s a lot like when you are running in the woods. If you see someone in front of you, even if they are faster than you, you want to at least keep the same distance between you.Also can sneak friends in who are visiting
My freshman and sophomore year I went to the hub for 2 reasons. I drank a few beers and was hungry, or I had a game the next day and was hungry.But when I realized my junior year that the hub existed for more than just satisfying late night hunger, I found that it added value to my W&J experience. The hub is uncool to a lot of people because of the classic “I think it is, so it is.”
School is small. But more importantly they have the advantages and agility to act like more of a start-up. As Lindsay stated in her PekaChucka, the opportunity to work at Roasted began through a series of conversations. Connecting
200 events per year. President gets paid well. She works hard and is a great speaker.
Work one on one. Gave me perspective on my career. Gave me suggestions for who to reach out to. Recently moved to Rossin which symbolizes their increased significance in the school and success with students.
4 weeks of studying during the day, going out every night. I mean every night. ½ gallon beers that cost a dollar that are top tier. I was able to sit in a room with people who helped a country transition from communism to capitalism. Ambassadors and university professors. Go a place where one dollar is equal to 17 of their dollars. Live like nobelty, party, meet geniuses- and get credit for it.

This man is not a graduate from W&J. The guy who is taking the picture is. When I was doing my internship for a W&J graduate this most recent summer, I had a little bit of downtime. During this time, I got to meet up with other W&J grads who worked in New York and worked in Finance. What I appreciate about the W&J network is that if you find the right people, they will develop quality relationships with you. The alumni who was walking around New York and we saw this guy. We thought it was funny and we snapped a quick picture. How many times can you say that? W&J’s network is big enough that you can find people who are doing exactly what you want to do, but it is small enough so that you can create personal and fun relationships with them.
I am not a Democrat, but I included this picture because it was W&J that allowed me the opportunity to meet Vice-President Biden. We did a little bit of work for the campaign and the Vice-President met the entire group individually. This opportunity was presented to us because someone who worked in the white-house had a dad who went to W&J.
