The most important thing that you must know about a GreenCard is that you must apply for renewal before it could expire, as a Green Card is valid for aperiod of ten years. If you were granted a conditional permanent resident card, you cannotrenew your conditional Green Card. You can apply for a Green Card valid for ten years byapplying to remove conditions on your conditional status. This Green Card renewal form maybe used by the lawful permanent residents to replace or renew their existing Green Cards.They can apply for renewal, if their card will expire in six months or if it has already expired.They may apply for replacement, if their card was stolen, lost or damaged. Conditionalpermanent residents may use the Green Card renewal Form I-90 to apply for a replacementof their existing conditional Green Cards, but they cannot renew their conditional permanentresident card.Green Card Renewal Form I-90 – General InstructionsAll questions on the form must be answered correctly without any false information. Once theapplication is filled make sure that you sign it and send it with the right filing fee. Certaindocuments must be submitted as initial evidence to establish your eligibility. You need notsend original documents, legible photocopies may be sent as initial evidence. Once your formis sent, it will be checked for accuracy and completeness, by the USCIS before approval. Youwill receive a notice from the USCIS regarding the biometrics appointment, at a local USCISApplication Support Center, after your form is approved.Filing FeeYou must pay a filing fee of $365 and a biometrics fee of $85, if you are filing the Green Cardrenewal form because your card was stolen, lost, mutilated or destroyed. The same feeapplies if you want to change any biographic information on your card and to renew yourexpired or expiring Green Card. A total filing fee of $450 which includes the filing fee andbiometrics fee, must be paid, if your status was automatically converted to permanentresident status and to get a new version of the Green Card, if you possess an old edition ofthe card. You need not pay the filing fee, but a biometrics fee of $85 must be paid, if youhave not reached your 14th birthday, since you received your Green Card. You need not paythe filing fee and the biometrics fee, if your card was never received and if your card containsincorrect information due to the administrative errors of the USCIS.
