Secretariat coordination meeting in Graz 26-27 November 2013 One of the main goals of the coordination meeting: Prepare a comprehensive IDMP CEE communications plan for 2014 • Web page • 1st IDMP CEE brochure • Visual media (video, short video interviews) • E-media (Facebook, Google Ads, blogs, Google Alerts) • Working with media (workshop for journalists, press releases, articles for journals, articles for journals, TV interviews) • Photo competition • Others – publications (Programme Framework), design, templates, etc.

Communications workshop in Bratislava, 8-13 December 2013 • organized by GWPO for all Communications Officers • GWP CEE Secretariat was represented by Ms. Gergana Majercakova, Communications Officer and Ms. Sabina Bokal, IDMP CEE Programme Manager • Focus on developing a Communications strategy. All aspects: identifying the audience personae, choosing the right channels and products, online communication, etc. • website and partners’ database • Creating a communications strategy for one particular project • Meeting with representatives of ICPDR and WWF at the Ministry of Life in Vienna. Presenters: Ms. Susanne Brandstetter - ICPDR’s PP EG chair and Mr. Konstantin Ivanov, Head of Communications of WWF.

Facebook - possibilities • Strong promotion on World Water Day – the new GWP Strategy, the new GWP video on Water and Energy – tripled the number of fans • Constant monitoring of drought news and other relevant water news in general and further promotion and “sharing” them on Facebook -> more visibility, more fans, likes, shares
  6. 6. First IDMP CEE general brochure • Includes general information about the Programme and is designed to serve as an introduction to the Programme • Can be used to promote IDMP CEE at conferences, forums and other events

Drought - Photo Competition Goal: promoting IDMP CEE, raising awarness, collecting drought photos for our database Timeline: Launch at 17th June - World Day to combat Desertification and Drought, deadline for submitting photos – 31 July, results announcement 31 August Evaluation of the works: based on the number of votes on Facebook Prizes: all participants receive a Certificate for participation, 1st place winner receives a camera, 2nd and 3rd place receive a data storage Budget: 1800 EUR: 1000 EUR for prizes, 200 EUR for Facebook and Google adverts, 300 EUR for the Facebook application and design other, 300 for media coverage after, other costs covered by regional admin budget (postage, certificates, etc.)

IDMP CEE video • Delivers the message very clearly • Time-saving solution • Delivers most impact - everybody with a smartphone, tablet, computer can access it and delivers multiple layers of communication (sound, visuals, text) • Enhances organisation’s visibility • Communicates innovatively (in the context of social media) • Visual media is flexible media for messages (can be screened in various places - public places, exhibitions, hotels, airports, TV, social media, etc.) • Requires efficient channels for distribution • Can be subtitled in local languages • The new GWP video on Water and Energy
