Tough Economic Times and the Fiscal Realities<br />The FY ‘10-’11 operating and capital budget of the University of Kentucky (not including the HealthCare Enterprise) totals $2.7 billion.<br />For FY ‘11 - the University expected a $7 million short fall <br />How was this Covered?<br />Reducing budgets for operating expenses (supplies, travel, etc)<br />Eliminating vacant positions<br />Eliminating filled positions<br />An Equal Opportunity University<br />

How to Control Printing Costs? <br />1) Visually -- we could see there was waste<br />2) Expenses -- paper and toner expenses kept going up<br />3) Manpower -- to manage all printing devices<br />We needed INFORMATION:<br />1) We had to find where the costs were.<br />2) We had to know how to manage infrastructure.<br />3) We had to find which costs we could reduce. <br />An Equal Opportunity University<br />
