1. Evaluation of my crime drama
Comparison of our original idea
Comparedtoour original ideaourcrime drama trailerwasroughlythe same.We keptsome ideas
the same for example the ideaof achase and the two policementryingtocrack the case,we
decided tochange the circumstancestowhythe victimwaskilledandcluestohow andthe after
effectonthe suspect. We includedvital crime conventionstomake itconvincingenoughthatitwas
a crime drama and what we hadseeninothercrime dramas that we had watchedinclasssuch as;
castle,SherlockandCSI. We didn’tuse as manyprops we wouldhave likedtodue toforgettingthem
overthe weekendandthenrunningoutof filmingtime.
Does it meet audience expectations?
Our target audience was for anyone who liked fast action programmes and the
mysterious/suspicious aspect. The audience thought the trailer could have been more
entertaining. Overall the feedback was half and half main points that needed improving
were story, titles and special effects however camera work was good and it does look like a
crime drama and editing came out the best.
The technical qualities – camera work
At the beginning of the trailer we did close ups on the characters so the audience knew
what was happening, we stuck to thisideafromour original designasitgave informationabout
whatroleseveryone had, italsohelpedgiveasneakpeakof how the characters act intheirroles.
2. The view of justrunningfeetdownthe stairsgivesthe sense
of a chase and createssuspensiontothe audience;italsocreatestensionandamysterious

Aesthetic Quality
The qualityof the trailerwaspleasing;the cameranevershookunlesswe made itdosoto add affect
to the atmosphere. Some partsof filmingcouldbe improvedsuchasthe close upson the characters
as half of ourcharacters headswere missing.
Team Contribution
We hadin our group:Me, Matt Holley,JackHonessandJoshBrown. Our groupideacame from

that wouldtell the audiencewhatthe programme wasaboutbutsomethingnew. We plannedour

musicthat couldcreate suspense anda mysteriousatmospheretofitinwiththe trailer. We didn’t

shotsand close upI am pleasedwithhow the trailercame outas thisaddedto the atmosphere
greatly. I rarelyusedtitlesinmytrailerhoweverwhenIdiditgave informationtowhatwas

3. Pre-production research
As a classwe watcheda load of crime conventionstohelpgive usideas.Thishelpedusdecide
costumes,propsandthe outline of the trailer.
Mind maps
Usingthese techniqueswe wereable tocompare ourideaswithinourgroupand be able to expand
our ideasforour final idea.
Post-production
To get ideasforour final piece we watchedothertrailersthatwere similartoour outline. We stuck
to our and usedourproduction schedule andthere wasn’tanyproblems.
These are used to crop the original clip to just the parts I needed. We tried to stick to our
production schedule but there were limitations on what we could do around school without
disturbing lessons. The main tool I used was mark in and mark out.
Self-evaluation
There wasnot justone single persongivingideaswe all gave ideasandasa group we addedto itas
group. As a teamwe workedwell we all keptourrolesandevensometimesimprovised. Whenit
came to recordingwe all helpedeachothernothave toworryabout the camera andbe confident.
At the endof the filmingIfeltthatwe haddone well witheverything.
Production log
We didn’tkeepalogor a diarybutwe did have a schedule andIthinkthat helpedusenoughtoget
us to our final piece. If we hadkeptalog or a diarythat couldhave helpedusevenmore tokeep
track of whatwe had alreadydone.
