  6. 6. A General Description<br />This relatively short tour is a circuit that is also beloved an well-known by joggers and wanderers. It is only about 8 km long and crosses the Rhine and the Main.   7. 7. The Reduit of Mainz-Kastel<br />The word “reduit” has a latin origin and means isolated or withdrawn. In former times it was an impregnable fortress. The Reduit of Mainz-Kastel was built between 1830 and 1834 by the two engineers Franz Scholl and Christoph von Pittel. Today its inner courtyard is used for open air concerts and public viewing. <br />
  8. 8. Maaraueat Mainz-Kostheim<br />The Maaraue in Mainz-Kostheim is a peninsula where the Main meets the Rhine. It is a recreational park where you can find a camping ground and lots of space for having BBQ or just to relax.<br />
