  3. 3. Why did I pick this topic? <ul><li>I picked this topic because when we watched the Oprah episode I had a million questions. It really touched and made me think how lucky I am. </li></ul>
  4. 4. How many kid are slaves in africa? <ul><li>There are about 200,000 child slaves in eastern and central Africa. </li></ul>
  5. 5. How do they children become slaves? <ul><li>The parents of the slaves sometimes sell their kids for as low as $20. </li></ul><ul><li>Fisherman kids take the roles of slaves only if they are adopted. </li></ul><ul><li>Some slaves are captured. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Do the parents of the slaves know where their children are? <ul><li>Since the villages are so far away, parents usually don’t know where they children are. Most don’t even communicate with the children. </li></ul>

Do the slaves get schooled? <ul><li>The children don’t get schooled until they are free. </li></ul><ul><li>Many of the former slaves learn how to read English in about 2 years. </li></ul><ul><li>There are many homes that provide education, food and shelter to former slaves in Africa. </li></ul>
  8. 8. How does child slavery stop? <ul><li>Some people try to persuade the fisherman to stop slavery. Most are successful but others have to be convinced with money. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Why its Important to stop child slavery. <ul><li>It’s important because its so dangerous. No one wants to be a slave especially someone younger than 5. all kids should be outside running around and laughing. </li></ul>
