  2. 2. September 13<br />At the Battle of Chapultepec the six boys were the final protectors the Mexican army&apos;s military academy. Incredibly outnumbered they stood their ground until there was no choice but to surrender or be killed. All six chose to commit suicide.<br />
  3. 3. September 16<br />El Grito every 16th of September is the Mexican Fiesta par excellence! On this day Mexicans all over the world celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spanish rule.<br />As you know, indigenous peoples were the first to inhabit what is now known as Mexico. They created great civilizations such as the Olmec, the Teotihuacan, Maya, Toltec, and of course the most powerful of all, the Aztec Empire. <br />
  4. 4. November 20<br />On November 20, Mexico celebrates the anniversary of its Revolution. On this date, in the year 1910 the war to overthrow the dictator PorfirioDíaz, began. <br /> General PorfirioDíaz had been an important military figure during the wars against the foreign invaders, and had tried to overthrow President Benito Juarez in 1872. Then again, he rebelled against President Lerdo de Tejada in 1876 and won. <br />
