  • Creation Sabbath Prayer

    1. 1. The following is the “Prayer for the Congregation” on Creation Sabbath at the Pacific Union College Seventh-day Adventist Church October 24, 2009 By Alexander Carpenter Creation  Sabbath
    2. 2. Ancient of Days. . . On this seventh day of the week, we remember you as our Creator: You spoke light and molded humanity; you evolved species, and yet, our first breath was yours. All: Today, we remember your mysterious works with awe. Creation  Sabbath
    3. 3. In the beginning, you birthed this earth and all life into being; and now, like a mother hen, you nurture us, your offspring, throughout each day. All: Today, we thank you for giving us unconditional love to share with all creation. Creation  Sabbath
    4. 4. Most Moved Mover. . . We don’t understand this struggle for existence. Why are we punished for Eden? Why do our good friends suffer from destructive diseases? Why do we destroy the children of our enemies in war? All: Jesus, please move us beyond doubt, grief and guilt. Move us to creative action with Creation You.  Sabbath
    5. 5. We don’t always understand the origin and purpose of our species. But you, O Creator, have made us creators too. That spark appears in us as we work and wait, cook and compute, draw and dance through life. Thank you. All: Way, Truth, Life. . . we thank You for the mystery of creativity. As we reflect on it today, lead us in deepening our relationships with all of Your Creation creation. Amen.  Sabbath
