  1. 1. Education in Norway The Norwegian educational system aims to be among the best in the world with regards to both academic levels and breadth of participation and completion rates. The quality of our education and training is instrumental for the qualities developed in our society.
  2. 2. Facts <ul><li>Of a population of over 4.5 million, more than 900 000 people are currently undergoing education or training. In addition approx. 1 million people participate in adult education courses each year. </li></ul><ul><li>All children between 6 and 16 must attend school and this is free of charge. </li></ul><ul><li>The latest curriculum plan came in 2006 </li></ul>

Primary and Secondary Education <ul><li>The state bears the overall responsibility for the Education Act with regulations,contents and financing of primary and secondary education and training. </li></ul><ul><li>Barneskole (primary school) – 1. too 7. grade </li></ul><ul><li>Ungdomsskole (secondary school) – 8. too 10. grade </li></ul><ul><li>The schoolyear is 38 weeks and divides into two semesters </li></ul>
  4. 4. Upper secondary school - videregående <ul><li>Not compulsory, but everyone get the option </li></ul><ul><li>3 years </li></ul><ul><li>12 programs, music, dance, drama one of them </li></ul><ul><li>You’ll apply for wich program you wish to attend, but it depends on your grades. </li></ul>

The curriculum <ul><li>The current curriculum (Kunnskapsløftet 06) includes all the 13 years from first to higher secondaryschool </li></ul><ul><li>The basic thing is too learn how to read, calculate, write, express yourselves and digital skills in the standars for your grade </li></ul><ul><li>A set of goals to accive in every subject for every year tested in 2. 5. 7. and 10. grade with national tests </li></ul><ul><li>In upper secondary it’s the same plan, but final exams in some subjects each year </li></ul>
