Why I Picked To Research African Kingdoms <ul><li>I picked to research African kingdoms because I knew very little about the subject. </li></ul><ul><li>It sounded very interesting. </li></ul><ul><li>When I found the kingdom I wanted to research on, there was so much information on it. </li></ul><ul><li>And it was very cool to learn about this amazing place. </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Overview <ul><li>Time period: 1200-1500 </li></ul><ul><li>Major Export: Gold and Salt </li></ul><ul><li>Natural Resources: Niger river, Gold mines, and Salt mines </li></ul><ul><li>Industries: Farming, Mining, and Trading </li></ul><ul><li>Famous People: Sunidita, Mansa munsa </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Overview (continued) <ul><li>Economic Specializations: Traders, Miners, Farmers, Blacksmiths, and Soldiers </li></ul><ul><li>Religions: Nobles, other wise known as Muslims </li></ul>
  5. 5. The start of the kingdom of Mali <ul><li>The kingdom of Mali, Started around the year 1300.The Kingdom of Mali began to have a great future when they started becoming immensely rich off of mining gold nuggets. </li></ul>
  6. 6. The start of The Kingdom Of Mali (continued) <ul><li>The more money they made the more powerful they became. They started a army, hired more workers, and became larger and larger. The Kingdom eventually spread so far it took up mostly all of West Africa. </li></ul>
  7. 7. The Kingdom of Mali- Army <ul><li>The Mali army was very strong and had unique fighting styles to kill almost any threat to them. The Soldiers trained every day and all day mostly training in defense. </li></ul><ul><li>-This was very surprising to me! I never thought they would have a army. </li></ul>
  8. 8. The Kingdom Of Mali- Army (continued) <ul><li>No one wanted to fight the Mali army, this is another why people believe they survived for so long. Another reason why the army always defeated there opponent was, The Mali army would never let there opponent get away with just a wound… </li></ul>
  9. 9. The Kingdom Of Mali-Army (continued) <ul><li>The soldiers poisoned most of there weapons before a fight, so even if there opponent got away there poisoned and they would eventually die. </li></ul>
  10. 10. The Kingdom of Mali, finally defeated <ul><li>After 300 years of Mali, they finally got defeated in around 1600’s by the Susu Kingdom. </li></ul>
  11. 11. One Question I Still Have <ul><li>How did they find that many Gold Nuggets to become that rich? </li></ul>
  12. 12. Essential Question <ul><li>How did the kingdom of Mali, the strongest, and wealthiest places in this time period, get defeated? </li></ul>
