WELCOME TO MEET THE TEACHER EVENING <ul><li>Information session about teachers, subjects and classroom procedures </li></ul><ul><li>Not a parent-teacher meeting </li></ul><ul><li>Please make an appointment with us if you wish to meet before the designated parent-teacher night </li></ul><ul><li>Parents visit PRA & PE at 7:20pm </li></ul>
  3. 3. Who Teaches which Subjects? <ul><li>Mme Poirier: Social Studies and Math </li></ul><ul><li>Mme Conrad: Sciences and French </li></ul><ul><li>Mlle Cahill: Language Arts and Social Studies(6G), French (post-intensive) </li></ul>
  4. 4. Homework <ul><li>Is reviewed and written on the board. It is to be copied into Homework Folder. (Blog should not be used as primary source for homework information.) </li></ul><ul><li>We will frequently be using the BLOG. The address is nasismiddle.nbed.nb.ca Click on Homework/News and then click on 6EFG. </li></ul><ul><li>Parents signature is required every night. </li></ul><ul><li>Students are responsible for filing their signed assignments/tests into their assigned folder which is kept in their homeroom class. </li></ul><ul><li>Importance of homework </li></ul>
  5. 5. Discipline Tracking <ul><li>What is it? </li></ul><ul><li>A collection of the most common discipline code violations experienced in the classroom (i.e.. not speaking in French, no homework, disruptive, disrespectful, not working, talking out of turn, unprepared for class etc.) </li></ul>
  6. 6. Discipline Tracking Book (continued) <ul><li>How is it used? </li></ul><ul><li>When any teacher notices any of the classroom expectations not being followed then they will record the code beside the student’s name. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Discipline Tracking still continued <ul><li>Why use it? </li></ul><ul><li>-Allows for student reflection and monitoring of own behaviors in the classroom. </li></ul><ul><li>-Targets behaviors for both students and teachers. </li></ul><ul><li>-Is currently being used to a large degree throughout the school. </li></ul>

Detention <ul><li>Every Tuesday from 3pm to 4pm starting September 30 </li></ul><ul><li>In one of the 6EFG classrooms </li></ul><ul><li>Students are to be picked up promptly at 4pm </li></ul><ul><li>Walkers must have written permission by parents in order to walk home after serving their detention </li></ul>
  9. 9. Detention (continued) <ul><li>If students do not attend their scheduled detention, they will be issued a second detention. </li></ul><ul><li>If two detentions are missed, we will request a parent/student/teachers meeting. </li></ul>
