  1. 1. “ The Ocean State” The main reason I chose my topic was because I am from Rhode Island and not many people even know that Rhode Island is a state. Everyone thinks that Rhode Island is either Long Island or part of Massachusetts. In reality though, there are many unique things about Rhode Island that go unnoticed.

State Symbols <ul><li>The Rhode Island Red (top left) is the state bird </li></ul><ul><li>The state drink is coffee drink (bottom), which only Rhode Island drinks </li></ul><ul><li>The state flag (top right) which has one star for each of the original thirteen colonies and the state motto, “Hope” </li></ul>
