  2. 2. ADJECTIVES <ul><li>Adjectives are words to talk about nouns. </li></ul><ul><li>Adjectives have syllables (1 syllable: Sad, 2 syllables:hap-py, 3 syllables: Beau-ti-ful) </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: big, small, thin, fat… </li></ul>

COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES <ul><li>Comparative adjectives are words to talk about the difference between two animals, people, things… </li></ul><ul><li>To make comparative sentences of 1 syllable adjectives add -ER to the end of an adjective </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: Short:curt/baix:shorter( més curt que/més baix que) </li></ul><ul><li>New:nou:newer(més nou que..) </li></ul>

SPELLING RULES <ul><li>Adjectives ending –E , add –R (nice-nicer) </li></ul><ul><li>Adjectives ending C+V+C , double the last consonant and add -ER (fat-fatter) </li></ul><ul><li>Two syllables adjectives ending –Y drop the Y and add –ER </li></ul><ul><li>Two or more syllable adjectives write “THE MORE” before the adjective (difficult-the most difficult) </li></ul><ul><li>IRREGULAR ADJECTIVES: </li></ul><ul><li>Good-better-the best </li></ul><ul><li>Bad-worse-the worst </li></ul><ul><li>Far-further-the furthest </li></ul>

SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES <ul><li>Superlative adjectives are words to talk about the difference between 3 or more people, animals or things… </li></ul><ul><li>To make superlative sentences of 1 syllable adjectives add –EST to the end of an adjectives. </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: Tall: alt: tallest </li></ul><ul><li>Old: Gran: Oldest </li></ul>
