  2. 2. First of all we need to check Vocabulary <ul><li>We are going to make a brainstorming of verbs.You know we need to express actions </li></ul><ul><li>In order to check verbs you need to use, we are doing some exercises to know their meaning </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>A verb is one of the most important parts of the sentence.It tells the subjects actions, events or state of being.It is always found in the predicate of a sentence. A verb that shows action is called an action verb. </li></ul>
  4. 4. The words are action verbs : <ul><li>Cough run </li></ul><ul><li>jump sing </li></ul><ul><li>Ride show go </li></ul><ul><li>dance </li></ul>
  5. 5. Can you find the action verb in each sentence? <ul><li>The girls danced in the recital. </li></ul><ul><li>Our mailman drove a funny car last week. </li></ul><ul><li>His teacher wrote the answers on the board. </li></ul><ul><li>Alice worked on her homework last night. </li></ul>

Present verbs <ul><li>An action verb that describes an action that is happening now is called a present tense verb . </li></ul><ul><li>The bird flies through the sky </li></ul><ul><li>Flies is a present tense verb </li></ul><ul><li>because it is happening right now. </li></ul><ul><li>Flies is a present tense verb because </li></ul><ul><li>it is happening right now. </li></ul>

  8. 8. Past Verbs <ul><li>Verbs which tell about actions which happened some time ago are past tense verbs . </li></ul><ul><li>The dog wanted a bone. </li></ul><ul><li>Wanted is a past tense verb </li></ul><ul><li>because the action has already happened. </li></ul>

Label each verb below either (C) for Continuous Verb, ( NC) for Non-continuous Verb or (M) for Mixed Verb. EXAMPLES a) love  NC b) travel  C c) taste   M 1. But we do not need only verbs, we need expressions too <ul><li>Idiomatic expressions are useful, when we create dialogues or informal conversations. </li></ul><ul><li>Categorize the following sentences into idiomatic expressions,phrasal verbs,collocations,lexical sets,words with prefixes. </li></ul>
