What is happening in political advertising and where is all the digital ad money going to go in the next political election?
In 2008, while everyone said online political advertising to be $100M, we predicted it would be $20M and that forecast proved correct. Then, in 2012, things got better during the presidential election. $160M was spent in online political advertising - still less than 2% of all political advertising. What's going to happen in the next presidential election? It is going to be close to, maybe surpass, $1B. Michael Bassik, Chairman of the US Digital Practice at Burson-Marsteller, thinks online advertising will really explode in 2014, but you will not notice until the 2016 in the presidential election. He will join us at #LOAC2014 to discuss where all this money will go.
