IBM Developer Works Interview: Tim Berners-Lee 22 Aug 2006 - Podcast LANINGHAM You know, with Web 2.0, a common explanation out there is Web 1.0 was about connecting computers and making information available; and Web 2.0 is about connecting people and facilitating new kinds of collaboration. Is that how you see Web 2.0?
  4. 4. BERNERS-LEE Totally not. Web 1.0 was all about connecting people. It was an interactive space, and I think Web 2.0 is of course a piece of jargon, nobody even knows what it means. If Web 2.0 for you is blogs and Flickr: jimgris wikis, then that is people to people. But that was what the Web was supposed to be all along.

Collaborative software is the basis for computer supported cooperative work. • The term Social software is normally applied to a range of web-enabled software programs. The programs usually allow users to interact, share, and meet other users. • Enterprise 2.0 is a new enterprising environment which can be differentiated from traditional Enterprise (say, enterprise 1.0). The new enterprising environment use social software in quot;enterprisequot; (business) contexts. It includes social and networked modifications to company intranets and other classic software platforms used by large companies to organize their communication. In contrast to traditional enterprise software, which imposes structure prior to use, this generation of software tends to encourage use prior to providing structure.
