Social flavors in eZ Publish CMS

 1. 1. Social flavored eZ Publishby Netgen
Ivo Lukač @ilukac
www.netgen.hr/eng
@ eZ Conference 2011, London
2. 2. The big picture (a.k.a. WEM)
Popular buzz word now: Web Engagement Management
CMS should support WEM as much as possible
In short a CMS should be a place for:
creation of content (must be easy fo editors)
distribution via more channels (must integrate)
content optimization via analytics and testing (must evolve)
persuading users to engage (must be easy to end users)
3. 3. ENGAGE!
4. 4. All CMS features...
...MUST BE EASY TO USE
To create content easily and for users to engage interface needs to be super “eZ”
...MUST INTEGRATE
To distribute and collect data we need integration, CMS is no longer a closed box
...MUST EVOLVE OVER TIME
To optimize content and add new features CMS needs to be in non-stop evolution
5. 5. How to do it?
Take special care of usability for all the features you build, extend standard features to be more user friendly (for editors and end users)
Do use / make / extend integrations with other platforms using available APIs, do not “reinvent the wheel”
Make that happen for every new feature you build, evolve existing ones
6. 6. SHARE!
7. 7. We do it...
... in small steps:
eZTags- easier content creation
ngPush- easier distribution by integration with twitter, facebook, etc. Extendable to other platforms and ready to evolve
ngOpenGraph- closer integration with Facebook
ngConnect and ngComments- easier user engagement with simpler login and AJAX based eZ Comments
8. 8. We are not alone 
Some community extensions supporting that idea and active lately( in no particular order):
Dapp Social
Janrain Auth
Xrow Social Notification
Xrow forum
...
LET ME KNOW YOURS – @ilukac
9. 9. Questions?
