2. Wonderland
Wonderland is an Indie style magazine
that focuses on bright colors in various
different styles. The front covers
generally consist of one dominating
picture that covers the majority of the
page. Wonderland has a striking and
noticeable masthead due to it being in
black and white which makes it stand
out compared to the rest of the
magazine which is very colorful.
Wonderland also features the main
stories and headlines around the
picture with an introduction called
cover lines.
3. I:D
I:D cover pages are very
simplistic and basic and
follows the indie genre. They
consist as a masthead, a
main picture that covers the
whole page with a punchy
one lined word. I:D covers
are often very striking and
noticeable due to the lack of
text on the page.
4. Dazed and Confused
Dazed and Confused is an
indie magazine with a large
bold white text masthead
placed over an image that
covers the whole page. The
image is striking and
perfectly place as the
women's eyes draw the
viewer in. Dazed and
Confused features cover
lines around the magazine
which features the main
stories with a short and
snappy introduction. The
colors used are clean and
pure which make the
magazine look innocent and
calm.
5. XXL
XXL is a rap genre magazine. The
masthead bold which features
red, a colour which has the
connotations of blood and
anger. The model is looking
straight at the colour in a close
up shot. The whole magazine is
very sharp and aggressive. The
writing is all squares with sharp
lines and angles, consisting of no
curves. It instantly draws the the
reader in. There are cover lines
that simply consist of bullet
points to stick with the straight
to the point, aggressive theme.
6. Kerrang
Kerrang is a rock genre which I
am basing my magazine genre
on. Kerrang usually features a
wide range of colours and font
types and sizes to give a mad
and mental effect to the
magazine. In Kerrang there are
always a wide range on
pictures usually layered
together. Kerrang as evident in
the magazine uses a lot of text
and cover lines on the cover
page. The Masthead is behind
the picture so the main title
and picture stand out to the
reader.
7. Classic Rock
Classic Rock is another magazine in the
Rock genre which I'm focusing on.
Classic Rock has a big and bold
masthead which is in white on a black
background so it stands out. Again
there is a main picture which draws in
the attention of the reader where the
main feature and headline sits central
so the reader clearly knows the main
story. Surrounding the picture are
cover lines and cover title for the main
headlines with short and punchy
introductions.
