  7. 7. NSNO Review</li></ul>Transitions<br />Please ensure all transitions are quick, quiet, and orderly. We will tighten our cafeteria procedures as well. <br />Math Interim Assessment<br />Next week we will administer our first Math Interim Assessment. I have received all Data Reflection sheets and will be observing this week for fidelity to your re-teach plans in both whole group and centers. Remember to include standards that were not mastered or those which require review in your Do Now and LifesWork. Did one of your team members do an OUTSTANDING job of teaching a particular standard that your kids struggled with? During team time on Monday arrange for some of your kiddos to get a 30 -40 minute workout session /review session with that teacher. At YES Prep we did this a lot. Our Interim Assessment results were always over 95%.<br />This Week: Planning and Professional Development<br />I am including a Team Meeting Protocol and Agenda this week. I want to ensure that we are using our time together wisely. This is your time to understand the standards which are being covered this week, and will be covered in next week’s plans, determine activities that will lead to student mastery, and an opportunity to get feedback from each other.   10. 10. What activities in the (I DO, WE DO, YOU DO) will lead to kids being able to master the objectives?

  13. 13. How will we assess?</li></ul>This is the heart of lesson execution. If we are developing lessons TOGETHER then there should be few modifications being made the day before the lesson is taught. The K-2 Room is available for team meetings. I look forward to seeing the collective work around planning on tomorrow.<br />This Week’s Schedule<br />I’ve made a few changes to the weekly schedule based on our school’s needs. Monday will remain as Grade Level Planning and Tuesday will remain planning time as well. We will offer targeted PD for our critical needs areas. This week Leslie will continue her work around Guided Discipline. She will contact teachers who should attend this session. Wednesdays are for all things data and areas that affect data. We will box your items this week and distribute on Wednesday. Please determine as a grade level the prices. For example: pencil - $10 We will place another order this week so please email Leslie with items you’d like to see in the store. Would you be interested in food being sold in the store? I’m thinking chips, fruit snacks, pickels , and candy straws. I also thought of big ticket items to in which they could—ok don’t laugh—Lay Away! I had to laugh at that one myself! We’d like to have items they would really WANT to have—do anything to buy with their bucks. <br />How would you feel about taking money away from money they’ve already earned? Students can always earn money throughout the day, but this could be helpful to modify many of the inappropriate behaviors we’ve seen over the past week. I’d like to do this with 2nd grade particularly. Please email Leslie and I with your thoughts.<br />Balanced Math coming soon!<br />Interested in learning more about a math program that will engage students in effective math problem solving? Of course we are. Remember that great article Maya gave up during PD—the Algebra Project? Well, this is our best method of ensuring our kiddos are math literate. I would like to start a Think Tank of math minds to explore this new addition to our math curriculum. We will begin the program in January. Email if you are interested and I will order the materials for our study later this week.<br />For more information:<br /><br /><br />We will also plan to visit Nelson Charter School here in the city to see it in action. <br />Friday Joy<br />The Charger Marching Band will be here on Friday! Please practice class chants and the ReNEW chant for this Friday’s celebration. Let’s plan to meet Monday afterschool to discuss where we are with banners, food, and logistics. CMO Members and possibly board members will be in attendance as well. <br />Attire: Jeans and ReNEW shirt<br />Do we have a chant?   15. 15. Having all diagnostics completed with data available and posted (in or near classrooms): STEP, math, writing, Terra Nova
  16. 16. Instructional Focus: explicit vocabulary instruction, Cold Call using Timing the Name and Call and Response, and Check for Understanding
  17. 17. Curriculum planning through scheduled team and individual planning times

More information to come!<br />Coming Soon:<br />Parent Teacher Conferences will be October 21st and 22nd Plan to spend at least 10 minutes with each parent to discuss grades. We will send out time preference sheets to parents and schedule accordingly.<br />Family Literacy Night is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 28, 2010.
