IMAGES OUT OF THE ORDINARYABOUT THESE IMAGESTHIS WAS MY SECOND YEAR SHOOTING BEACH OF THE DEAD, BRIGHTON’S ANNUAL ZOMBIE WALK, WHICH HASBECOME MORE POPULAR THAN EVER. 2012 SAW AN ESTIMATED 6,000 ZOMBIES TAKE TO THE STREETS, BUT ASIS OFTEN THE CASE, QUANTITY COMES AT THE EXPENSE OF QUALITY. THIS TIME ROUND, THERE SEEMED TO BENOTICEABLY FEWER STANDOUT ZOMBIES. THE CHALLENGE THEN WAS TO FIND THE MOST AUTHENTIC, MOSTVISUALLY INTERESTING ONES WITHIN THE VAST CROWD SNAKING THROUGH THE STREETS. THE WEATHERDIDN’T HELP, CLOUDY AND OVERCAST AND NEITHER DID MY DESIRE FOR ‘CLEAN SHOTS.’ WITH SO MANYPEOPLE SNAPPING AWAY, I WANTED MY IMAGES TO BE DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE ELSES. INPARTICULAR, I DIDN’T WANT ANY DISTRACTIONS IN THE BACKGROUND AND I WAS AFTER A DARK, GRITTYLOOK. IT WASN’T EASY, BUT IN THE END, AND IN SPITE OF A FEW TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH THE 7D, I THINK IMANAGED TO GET SOME GREAT FACES, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY FOR ME, A CONSISTENT VISUAL STYLEAMONGST THEM ALL. OH, AND BY THE WAY, NONE OF THESE PICTURES WERE POSED.
