  2. 2. International Students : The Good News United States is preferred destination for international students – 723,277 in 2010/11 academic year. International students contribute more than $21 billion to the U.S. economy – tuition, living expenses, family members, etc. Ohio – 24,709 international students (#8 in U.S.) with economic contribution of $662.4 million.   3. 3. International Students : The Good News (cont.) International students are some of the best and brightest from their nations, concentrated in STEM fields. International students receive over 50% of doctorates awarded in engineering, mathematics, computer sciences, physics and economics. 65% of all international science and engineering Ph.D. recipients were still in the U.S. 5 years after graduation.Conclusion: We need to find ways of keepinginternational students and talent in United States Source: National Science Foundation December 8, 2011
