  2. 2. Space in abstract art can be relatively shallow or flat, ie, flat patterns of shapes on a flat background. Space in abstract art can have more depth, as if the viewer sees into a space in which the shapes “swim” in an atmospheric void. What follows are pairs of abstractions: a flat space and then a space with more depth. They’re all good, it’s just that they’re different.
