  1. 1. Bb7 Course Export Backing Up for Future Use
  2. 2. Initial Steps <ul><li>Sign into Bb at http://avc.blackboard.com using your myAVC user name and password </li></ul><ul><li>Navigate to a course you want to export </li></ul><ul><li>Go to the Control Panel for the course </li></ul>
  3. 3. Begin Export Process <ul><li>Click on Export Course link (circled below) </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Export Screen <ul><li>Click the Export button </li></ul><ul><li>The difference between Export and Archive: </li></ul><ul><li>Export will make a backup copy of your course materials for later use </li></ul><ul><li>Archive is used to make a copy of the course including student information and input. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Export Selection <ul><li>Choose the materials you want to export </li></ul>

Suggested Selections <ul><li>Content – Including Syllabus and Course Materials </li></ul><ul><li>Adaptive Release Rules </li></ul><ul><li>Discussion Boards </li></ul><ul><li>Early Warning System Rules </li></ul><ul><li>Glossary </li></ul><ul><li>Gradebook Items and Settings </li></ul><ul><li>Settings </li></ul><ul><li>Staff Information </li></ul><ul><li>Tests, Surveys, and Pools </li></ul>
  7. 7. Export Queued <ul><li>Clcik Submit button in lower left of screen after choosing items to export. </li></ul><ul><li>The next screen will notify you that the Export has been queued. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Retrieving the Export <ul><li>A typical course export procedure can take from five minutes to a hour or more depending on server load and size of course. </li></ul><ul><li>An email is sent when the course export is complete and ready for download. </li></ul>

Downloading the Export File <ul><li>Go back to the course you want to retrieve the download from. </li></ul><ul><li>Go to the Control Panel and then Export Course </li></ul><ul><li>A downloadable file is linked, it is in ZIP format </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the name of the file to start downloading </li></ul>
  10. 10. Save File <ul><li>Choose to save the file </li></ul><ul><li>Save it in a location that is accessible </li></ul><ul><li>The picture to the right shows a save file screen using FireFox 3.6 on a Windows 7 operating system </li></ul>

It can be accomplished in the same way choosing Archive Course instead of Export Course </li></ul>
