Interesting Facts NARA  Established in 1934 by Congress to Centralize Federal Record Keeping under President Franklin Roosevelt NARA keeps only about 2-5 percent of all Federal records generated each year Holdings include over 9 billion pages of textual records; 7.2 million maps, charts, and architectural drawings; more than 20 million still photographs; more than 365k reels of film and 110k videotapes
