Revelation of Jesus <ul><li>Matthew 16:13-18 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, &quot;Who do people say the Son of Man is?“ They replied, &quot;Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.&quot; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>&quot;But what about you?&quot; he asked. &quot;Who do you say I am?&quot; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Simon Peter answered, &quot;You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.&quot; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Jesus replied, &quot;Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven . </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church , and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. </li></ul></ul>

Presence of Jesus – by the Holy Spirit <ul><li>Matthew 18:20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.“ </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Jesus is always present in the Believer – “…never leave or forsake.” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>We are His Temple… dwelling place </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>When we gather together, He is present in a mysterious way </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>In power </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>In revelation </li></ul></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Church is not about buildings & programs, but about people <ul><li>To whom Jesus is revealed </li></ul><ul><li>Who gather in His presence </li></ul>
  7. 7. DNA of the Church <ul><li>Organic </li></ul><ul><li>Relational </li></ul><ul><li>Cellular </li></ul><ul><li>Charismatic </li></ul><ul><li>Generative </li></ul>

Organic <ul><li>Living </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Living things grow... </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Growing things change… </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Changing things challenge... </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Challenges cause us to grow... </li></ul></ul><ul><li>EPH 4:16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. </li></ul>

Relational <ul><li>&quot;The only thing the Church has to offer are relationships: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>with God </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>with others </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>other Believers </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>the unbelieving world </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Everything is done because of relationships </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Initiated, instigated & perpetuated by the HS </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Fulfilled through relationships </li></ul></ul>

Cellular <ul><li>Cellular refers to changing our thinking… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Moving from thinking of staffs, teams, congregations as “groups of individuals” to a “unified whole” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Whatever is happening in the large is happening in the small </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>If there is “life” in the big meeting – there should be “life” in the small meeting </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>We cannot think that the “big” is all there is… </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>“ Cellular thinking” keeps thing from getting artificial </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Cellular thinking relies on grace </li></ul><ul><li>Cellular is easier to reproduce </li></ul>

Charismatic <ul><li>Gift-based ministry </li></ul><ul><li>Teams that are gift-driven </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Remember ACT 13 – Saul & Barnabas? </li></ul></ul><ul><li>1Pe 4:10 (NAS) As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Gift received </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Used in serving one another </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Stewards of grace </li></ul></ul>

Viral – Generative <ul><li>Biotic Principle (ecology) – “the inherent capacity of an organism or species to reproduce and survive…” </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Church survives </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Living things reproduce </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Every Believer has the capacity to reproduce </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Discipleship </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Church – a gathering of disciples </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>Viral and Infectious </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Alan Hirsch – “Sneeze-able Gospel” </li></ul></ul>

Things need to “make sense” <ul><li>The church is designed </li></ul><ul><ul><li>To give meaning to life </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To give hope in the midst of temptation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To give hope in the time of despair </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Everything God designs is designed to work best in community </li></ul><ul><li>In any culture & setting… </li></ul>

Church <ul><li>JESUS WITH US – </li></ul><ul><ul><li>HIS PRESENCE WHEN WE ARE ‘GATHERED’ </li></ul></ul><ul><li>JESUS REVEALED AMONG US – </li></ul><ul><ul><li>THE SUPERNATURAL SENSE: THE GIFTS, THE POWER </li></ul></ul><ul><li>JESUS IN US – </li></ul><ul><ul><li>ALL TOGETHER </li></ul></ul><ul><li>HELPS THINGS “MAKE SENSE” </li></ul>
