Becoming a Dangerous People

  3. 3. The Kingdom of the heavens… The Kingdom of God… <ul><li>… that space where what God wants done is done. </li></ul><ul><li>Jesus: “I am here and I’ve brought my world with me!” </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>God is on a mission in the earth and he invites His People to join Him… </li></ul>
  5. 5. Newspaper ad for 1914 expedition to Antarctic… <ul><li>Men wanted for Hazardous Journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success. </li></ul>
  6. 6. How do we become dangerous? <ul><li>Prayer will not make you dangerous </li></ul><ul><ul><li>“ Me prayers” just make you fat </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Desperate prayers make you dangerous because they look for something other than yourself </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Church attendance will not make you dangerous… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Hearing and not doing will just make you lazy </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Security + Comfort + Convenience  Consumers </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Cannot consume your way into discipleship </li></ul></ul></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Bible reading will not make you dangerous… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Cut & paste will not give you The Story </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Sometimes we read what we like and make it say what we want… </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Consuming “big chunks of Scripture” will make you dangerous </li></ul>

How do we become dangerous? <ul><li>Dangerous people hear voices and dream dreams </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Jesus said: “My sheep hear my voice and they follow me…” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If you don’t listen, you can’t hear </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If you don’t hear, you can’t do </li></ul></ul>

  13. 13. <ul><li>Dangerous people are serious about maturity </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Dangerous people cannot tolerate living by ego and pride </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dangerous people empower disciples </li></ul></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>Dangerous people are sick and tired of being sick and tired… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>So they create change </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>“ change is good… unless it happens” </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>“ change is good… you go first” </li></ul></ul></ul>
